I had to go to the office take the appointment with the Advocate Palekar, then had to meet him at the allotted time, there was a small interview, soon after i was selected.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

It was very nice, it was my very first internship. I was treated very warmly and there were to junior advocates who I used was allotted space with, who started to make me feel totally at home, in the office. The office in the middle of the city and a large space with 10-12 people conference room.

Main tasks

Main tasks included drafting of documents and attending courts. As the firm is multi faced we could go both civil suits and criminal trails, with Advocate Palekar as well as with the juniors.

The other tasks also included case discussions and drafting of plaints and compliance which were often checked by the juniors. I was also given a little quiz with other interns, and the juniors at the office would often give us legal knowledge tests.

Work environment and people

The people including the office staff was very cooperative, any law book or case files were made instantly available. Advocate Palekar and his associates took personal interest in teaching, testing and helping us with various statutes and general legal procedural knowledge.

Best things

Best thing was the court visits, and that we were given a brief of the case at hand so we could understand the nature of the case at hand. And understand the proceedings better.

Bad things

I don’t remember any.

Can’t calculate value of knowledge.

Biggest Lessons

Firstly that a law practitioner is always a student in the field of law. Secondly that, the easiest part of the person in law field’s life is the time he has while he is studying in college.

No matter what you think of the case, if you can’t convince the client with the same, just do what he says, but keep his interest protected in the best possible way.
