How big was the office? Team strength?
It was a library internship in ILI library (Indian Law Institute).
The ILI library is not very big though the collection of books is wide and covers almost every legal field.
The Supreme Court advocates would also use the services of the library at times.
Application procedure. Internship contact details
It was a walk-in-and-its-yours kind.
Duration in weeks. No. of days/week. Timings
6 days. 3 hours a day. Time slot was given by them.
Accommodation: how, where, how was it?
I lived at my local guardian’s.
First impression. First day, formalities etc.
There was a form we had to fill up and pay a sum of Rs. 300 to use the library services for a month.
Main tasks
There was not much to do but read.
You could utilize the time to read and find what law field interests you or just sit through 3 hours everyday doing nothing.
Work environment, people
At ILI, they are strict about the timings and regularity.
You cannot use earphones or waste time on your laptop there though these rules are not always followed.
Best things?
The best thing about the ILI internship was the opportunity to read.
Bad things?
It would have been better if they had given us projects or some research work. That part was missing.
What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues
Some of my colleagues came with me to the Indian Law Institute library so I had a good time.
The place is close to Connaught Place, India Gate, Palika Bazaar, so post- internship you can hangout. You get enough time for Dilli Darshan.
Stipend/ month
None.
Biggest lessons:
Do not go for a library internship. Instead go for something where you learn research skills.
As a 1st year, that would be the best use of your vacations.
