Application Procedure
One could apply for the internship by emailing their CV with a short cover letter to mail@corplawchambers.com or mail@clci.net.in
First Day First Impression
This was my Second Internship at this law firm, as I was pretty comfortable with the associate under whom I worked the last time, thus had work form the first day. Basically, all the first day formalities, introduction, and interaction session was cut short. But a meeting with the Partner, Vinay Chauhan was required.
I was given one cubicle, interns are required to bring their laptops along with them. But all other resources possible to facilitate any assignment are provided by them.
Timings
The office timings are from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm (Monday-Friday). But depending on the work one gets, the intern may have to stay back late. Its usually 6 days a week, and 10 am to 2:30 pm (Saturday) is the timing for interns
Main tasks
The assignments included making preparing synopses of cases and their List of Dates, Assisted in drafting Appeals, Written Statements, and other pleadings to be filed before the Hon’ble Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT), and Adjudicating Officers and Whole Time Members of SEBI
Drafted replies to Show Cause Notices and Ex-parte Orders issued by SEBI against clients under various SEBI Regulations pertaining to, Unfair Trade Practices, Insider Trading, Code of Conduct of Intermediaries.
Best Thing
The best thing here is one can get a chance to work with partners and if one is lucky one could find senior counsel’s like Iqbal M Chagla, Darius Khambata, Janak Dwarkadas, Mustafa Doctor, Zal Andhyarujina arguing in the Securities Appellate Tribunal.
Bad things
Since the Law firm is not a Full-service law firm, one may miss out on exploring the other fields of Law. But if you are sure that Securities Law is your cup of tea, Don’t hesitate in interning here.
