First day, First Impressions

On the first day, I had a brief meeting with Mr. Barunesh Chandra, the Managing Partner of the firm. He made me familiar with the working culture of the firm and what exactly was expected from me. After the meeting, I was introduced to each and every team member. After the induction, I was assigned a research work regarding an ongoing case. The first day was very chilled out and easy-going.

Work Environment

The office was not very huge, no doubt it was very well maintained. In the work station, separate desks were allotted to every associate and interns. The senior associates and the partners had their separate cabin. A well equipped conference room was just a cherry in the cake. Needless to mention, there was a small pantry which was the mitochondria of the firm :p.

The associates were very friendly and helpful. For me, the wonderful thing was that I was treated as a team member which really kept me self motivated. A strict adherence to the hierarchy  was not observed as such.

At times, when the associates were super busy with their work, I could straightaway approach the partner in case of any doubt. However, this rarely happened as they were very accommodating.

Main Tasks

The work was not confined to any specific field of law. So I got the opportunity to visit the courts, attend arbitration proceedings, and I also assisted in drafting legal documents for companies. In a nutshell, I gained huge experience working with this firm. The best part was that along with gaining experience, I got substantial stipend to ease my stay in Delhi.

Overall Experience

Overall, I had a great experience over here. Being my first internship in a law firm, I got a lot to learn. Given an opportunity, I would definitely like to intern once again with this firm.

Since I’m not a resident of Delhi, I had to stay in a PG nearby which was at a walking distance from the office. There are a lot of PGs available around that place.
