Application process
I had got this internship through a contact. However, you can apply here through application forwarded from the placement cell of your college.
Duration of internship and timings
November 26th 2018 – December 21st 2018
Working hours are usually from 9:30 AM-5:30 PM, but have to stay back if there are urgent matters to be completed. Monday to Friday, including first Saturdays, are working days.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
On the first day, I have to fill a form of induction and provide college ID to the firm. After the same associates will provide you with access to important databases on which interns have to assist associates in working.
The office is located in one of the suits in the 8th floor of a big building. There are offices of other companies in the same building. The office is not so big and can only accommodate only 5 people maximum. Hence the firm usually takes only one intern at a time. However, there is lobby near the office which can be also used for working. There is a cafeteria also nearby from which coffee and snacks can be purchased. The entire area is air-conditioned and there is a refreshment area on the top floor of the office.
Main tasks
Mainly I had to help associates in filing of various Trademarks forms, finding evidences for same, flinging replays etc. The associates also asked me to prepare a list of possible opposition for our clients on basis of each TM Journal. I also had to research on various topics and provide the report to the partner.
Work environment, people
The associates and partner were very friendly and made sure that I am properly understanding the nature of the work assigned to me and was able to complete it successfully. They also took me through step by step procedure of filing various forms and had constantly checked on the status of work that was assigned to me. They made sure that I am completely understanding the procedures of filing various forms and how to prepare documents for same. Sometimes I had to prepare opinions on certain sections of laws other than IPR also.
Best things
The best thing about the firm is the attention provided to my work by associates and there is a chilling spot on the top of the building where there is a game zone also. The view from the top was amazing.
Bad things
There wasn’t any bad thing as such but I would like to mention one thing- since the firm mostly concentrates on filings, the repetitiveness of work may bring tiredness sometimes.
Places to eat, chill
There are great places nearby office where you can get authentic Kerala cuisine as well as Chinese. The place is near marine drive of Cochin. Also, there are plenty of places and malls nearby to chill and eat. You can also go to tourist spots like Mattancherry and Fort Kochi using boat services from a nearby area.
Stipend
None
Accommodation
I stayed in a PG nearby. You can get cheap PGs nearby that may cost you up to Rs. 5000 including food. If you don’t want food, you can get places with a maximum cost of Rs. 3000.
