First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The first day we had conversation with the full time interns who had been working there.
They gave us an insight as to how they work in a chamber.
The had to submit our forwarding letter which was issued from our college.
The infrastructure was fine and there were incoming and outgoing clients who came in to discuss their case.
Main tasks
Our main task was to go through various cases, civil as well as criminal.
We had to assist in research of case laws and we had to attend counseling of client sessions.
We were also made to visit the Gauhati High Court regularly where we attended court proceedings and learnt about various facets of advocacy as well as functioning if the High Court.
Work environment and people
The work environment was pleasant with ample scope to learn from our seniors.
They cleared our doubts whenever we had one.
Their approach was quite friendly.
Best things
The best part was to attend those client counseling sessions.
We understood how a lawyer has to deal with ones client.
Bad things
It might be a boring affair to go through bulks of cases if you lack interest on the subject.
It’s better to discuss among friends the whole case and sum up at the end.

I got to learn various forms of drafting legal documents.
Internship teaches you the actual application of law.
Any Other Thing
A student must begin ones internship from a lower court and then jump to higher court.
