Duration of internship and timings
I’ve been volunteering here whenever I’m free, but for certificate, you need to do around 40 hours.
The timings are very flexible.
Weekdays 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm.
They function on weekends as well.
They’re very flexible with the days and when you go, as long as you complete around 40 hours.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The NGO gives under privileged children free tuitions.
The building is a small well lit garage/ go down like room.
There is almost no formality.
You introduce yourself, and make yourself comfortable on one of the mats, and the children start coming up to you to clear doubts.
It is in a good, well connected location.
It is in Ejipura – which is on the Koramanagala – Indiranagar intermediate ring road.
Main tasks
My job was to teach the students (the children who come there range from 1st standard students to 10th standard students) whatever they found difficult, or help them with their homework.
If you don’t know the subject, leave it.
Someone else will do it.
Work environment and people
The people in charge are extremely nice, friendly and approachable.
They’re easy to work with, extremely flexible and understanding.
Best things
Since the internship started only at about 4:30 pm in the evening on weekdays, you have most of the day to yourself.
Around 4 days a week is enough if you’re regular (although, towards the end, you’ll want to go everyday because the kids are the most wonderful beings I have met).
Bad things
No legal experience.

Biggest Lessons
It’s essential to take some time out and work at places like this for the sheer joy it gives you and the people you’re helping.
Internships such as these are ones you do for yourself, not your CV.
