Application Process
In order to intern under PUCL, a student has to first send an e-mail either to PUCL Rajasthan email-id or to PUCL General Secretary’s (Ms. Kavita Srivastava) email-id, specifying the law school in which the applicant is pursuing law, his/her year of study, duration of internship and an updated Curriculum Vitae.
This all has to be done atleast a month before the period of internship. In response to the application, there will be a confirmation mail by the authorities at PUCL office.

Duration of internship and timings
Ideally, a person should do internship for atleast 4 weeks under any institution because this much time is essential to know things properly. However, a student can do internship for a minimum period of three weeks under PUCL.
As far as timings are concerned, there is no fix schedule as they say “human rights violation can happen anywhere, at any point of time, so, one has to be prepared for it all the time”, but usually it starts at 10:00 am and get’s over at 6:00 pm.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
First impression at PUCL is really good, you’ll get to meet lots of people from different universities pursuing different under-graduate degrees. Apart from this, you’ll get to talk to Kavita ma’am, she usually makes her conversation informal, she’ll make you talk, share your opinions and make you comfortable with the atmosphere.
Formalities is equal to nothing, you have to submit a letter mentioning your period of internship, your college, your personal information etc. You will also have to enter your name in a register.
PUCL Jaipur’s infrastructure is normal, when the number of interns are less, interns work at office only, but if the number of interns are more, then they usually book a place, as their office is not spacious enough to accommodate more than 15 people at a time.
Main tasks
Main tasks at PUCL Jaipur is to keep yourself updated with the recent human rights violations, for which they’ll make you do fact-finding exercise through newspapers and you also have to keep a record of all the things mentioned about that incident (human rights violation) in the newspaper for which you have to file all the newspaper article pertaining to the issue.
Apart form this, they will take you to the protests, courts, central jails, PUCL state meetings, PUCL Jaipur meeting etc.
Work environment and people
Work Environment at PUCL is really good, especially the members of PUCL (Associates of Ma’am). They will always be ready to help in any situation, they’ll make the internship like normal routine, you won’t feel like interning.
It will give you the pleasure of working for others. Moreover, usually people intern at PUCL along with their friends so, it’s never awkward.

Biggest Lessons
Lessons you’ll learn from PUCL is ‘punctuality’. They will really make you work, they won’t let you sit idle. Also you have to manage yourself for the conveyance, they will not going to adjustments for it.
You’ll come across lots of things that you won’t have even thought of related to Human Rights Violations. You’ll learn to talk to every kind of a person ranging from a murderer to a victim, from a powerful post holder to a beggar.
