How big was the office? Team strength?
The firm has 3 partners and 6 associates
Application procedure. Internship contact details
The firm accepts the internship applications through their website. All the internship details were conveyed to me through mails. Once my internship application was accepted, Tanya Ma’am who is an Associate at K & T Law Offices, had got in touch through calls and provided with further information.
Duration in weeks. No. of days/week. Timings
4 weeks. 6 days per week. Timings 10:30 A.M. to 7 P.M.
First impression. First day, formalities etc.
My first day at the firm went really well. I was quite nervous about the internship as it was my first time working in a law firm. But, I felt comfortable working there. I interned at the firm with two of my batch mates and all of us were at ease since the first day. We were introduced to everyone at the firm and assigned our own cubicles to work in.
I loved this part. The first time, you work in a firm and you get to work in a place you can call, “My Cubicle”. I was very happy. It gave me a sense of having a real job and also gave me my personal space to work in peace.
Main tasks
All the interns were given various tasks depending upon the requirements of the associates. Making case notes, researching etc. are some task, you’ll be given in every internship. At K & T, you get to work on “Consultation Papers” for TRAI, Reference Interconnection Offers etc.
The firm majorly deals with telecom disputes and oil and gas legal agreements. Legal areas like telecom disputes are not usually taught at law schools and that’s why this internship played an important role in expanding my knowledge and my career prospective.
Work environment, people
The best thing about the work environment at K & T is that it is balanced. You will find the right amount of professionalism and friendliness which I personally admire. All the associates are young and full of energy and they treat the interns like their colleagues.
I was amazed at how they would go out of their way to help us. The way we were guided and mentored throughout our internship is one of the reasons I would love to intern their again.
Best things
The variety of work the interns are given. I learnt a lot. And I can say I know so much more than my batch mates with respect to telecom disputes owing to my internship at K & T. The approach of everyone at the firm towards the interns.
They would actually treat you like a family member. And we used to get awesome home made food, especially on Saturdays.
And, again, those cubicles, they had to make this list of best things.
Bad things
I would say there was nothing really bad at the internship. Sometimes, you just like working at a few places that you cannot point out flaws.
What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues
As the firm is located on Barakhamba road, it is walking distance from the metro station and Connaught Place is also very close. There you can find lots of cool places to eat and chill out. *Starbucks* one of my favorites.
Stipend/ month
Stipend will depend upon your work during the internship. They usually do not provide with stipends but if they like your work then you will go home smiling.
Anything else you’d like to tell
I would like to advise you to apply at K & T Law Offices if you are ready to put in some real hard work. Rest assured, you will be guided well.
Biggest lessons
Biggest lesson learnt at the firm was at the lunch table. All the members of the office, the partners, the associates and the interns sit together at one table, share the food which everyone brings from their homes and have a good time. It is like the bonding time for everyone.
One important thing that I learnt from this was, when you work somewhere, the place becomes your second home and being happy there is essential.
