First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

Official white and black dress is necessary. I had to report on time allotted.

Main tasks

To assist the lawyers in court proceedings and to visit different court proceedings with him. I did some research work to about negotiable instruments act. I drafted legal notices regarding non payment of rents. I also learned how to draft legal replies.

Work environment and people

The work environment was good. The campus was a little old but fine. It also had a library.

My lawyer was also very helpful. He was always ready to help when ever he had time.

Best things

I learned a lot about court proceedings in a trial court. I also saw proceedings of court of sessions. I learned the concept of re-examination, cross examination and examination in chief. I also saw tip in a case which was under trial.

Bad things

There was not too much of court proceedings during my internship tenure. We had to ask for work otherwise no work was allotted. Sometimes it was very hot as there was no air conditioning.

No good food joints were there near the court campus. Sometimes the court was very overcrowded.

Biggest Lessons

I learned almost all the necessary requirements for starting a legal suit in the district court. I learned how to apply the laws in practical application. It was very helpful for me to understand the crpc and evidence act in a better way.

Any Other Thing

This internship was very helpful in to understand the basic level of Indian legal system that is district Court.

Accommodation

I did my internship during our semester breaks and I belong to Rampur, so I had local accommodation.

Office Timings

9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Court timings were followed.

Timings were not strict when ever I had work I was allowed to go.
