Duration of Internship
1st – 27th July, 2016.
Timings and Location
You are expected to reach the chambers by 9:10 am as Sir leaves early for the Court. The time of return was never fixed and ranges between 9 pm-11 pm in the night.
The chamber being located in S-Block; GK-1 New Delhi; its a walking distance to the Kailash Colony Metro and eateries can be found nearby in the M-block Market.
First Day
On the first day of my joining, I was given the task of making brief note of an SLP to be filed by sir in the SC. The subsequent days went in researching and making of briefs in matters pertaining to Income Tax Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, Environmental Law, FCRA, Safe Harbor Rules, filing of rejection of bail applications, Companies Act and other areas of law.
During my internship, I couldn’t get a chance to witness Sir arguing in the SC for the reasons that he being a Panel-A Lawyer; the matters related to that of the Government Agencies and arguments were taken up by the ASGs; but I got honed up on my drafting skills whereby I was asked to draft SLPs and Writ Petitions and it was great to relearn the basics of the drafting.
This internship is highly recommended for students who love to work for good long hours on areas especially focusing on Civil Laws. Sundays are even working days and there’s no holiday as such; but you can get permissions sorted for a day or two if you have anything urgent to attend to and thereby skip chamber works.
Infrastructure
The Infrastructure was good and sir was anytime approachable. One needs to be constantly asking for subsequent tasks once the given work has been finished and trust me there is no dearth of work in the chamber.
Stipend
Rs. 5000
