First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The flat-turned-office is located at Saket, N-Block. There is only one associate in the office. She shares a room on the first floor along with the interns. I was introduced to the associate and was given some work right away.
Main tasks
Vrinda ma’am undertakes several pro bono cases where human rights seems to have been groosly infringed. The work was basically research-based and we had to find judicial precedents most of the times.
Work environment and people
As the associate also sits in the same room, it is, mostly, a quiet atmosphere till the interns break for lunch or go home. The associate is approachable but does not interact much with the interns otherwise.
Ma’am is very serious about the work she assigns and expects them to diligently work on it.
Best things
As there aren’t many associates, the interns and their research is taken quite seriously. One gets to work on very interesting human rights issues.
Bad things
The work, sometimes, got clerical and we had to flag documents and make summaries.
This was supposed to be my SC internship. However, since Ma’am is not an Advocate on Record, she files cases through others and goes to the SC only when there is a hearing. So, through the course of my internship, I visited the Supreme Court only once.
We were not allowed to use the office wifi and were asked to bring our own data cards.
