The PG College of Law, Osmania University, Basheerbagh, Hyderabad, is organising a National Workshop on “ROLE OF SUPREME COURT AS A PROTECTOR OF HUMAN RIGHTS – A REFLECTION ON RECENT TRENDS” on 22 December 2018.

About the Workshop

Human rights are the basic rights available to every person. These rights are enshrined as the fundamental rights in our constitution. The Supreme Court is the protector of human rights in our country. Among the fundamental rights, two of the most important rights are equality and liberty.

With the recent landmark judgements of the Supreme Court, the concept of human rights is gaining momentum. In the recent Judgements, it is evident that the Supreme Court is keen on the protection of human rights and providing justice in cases of violation. At this juncture, the workshop aims at highlighting the key issues in relation to the protection of human rights and the role of the Supreme Court in providing justice with special reference to recent judgements.

The Sub-Themes of the workshop include the following areas:

1.  Human Rights and Conceptual Analysis
2. The Human Rights and Gender Justice: Recent Responses of Supreme Court
3. Impact of Judicial Action Vs. Social Reaction: Emerging issues
