University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh is organising 3rd UILS National Client Counseling Competition – 2014 on 4th February 2014.
The Winners of the UILS National Client Counseling Competition – 2014 shall be awarded with the ‘Dr. Gurdial Singh Dhillon Memorial’ Running Trophy.

Registration
Registration Fee is Rs.2,000/-
An email confirmation from the participating institutions is expected before the 22th January 2014 to be sent at jasmeetegan@hotmail.com (with copy to director_uils@pu.ac.in).
Registration Fee of Rs. 2000/- has to be sent along with the Registration Form in the form of a Demand Draft in the name of ‘Director, University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh’ or to be faxed at 0172- 2784283 before 25th January, 2014 for participation in the UILS National Client Counseling Competition – 2014.
Please Note: The last date of registration alongwith the Demand Draft is 25th January 2014, and in no case the registrations will be accepted after the last date.
Rules:
Each team, comprising of two law students [pursuing LL.B. (3years) or B.A.LL.B. (5 years) course], is eligible to participate from each law school.
The Consultation Situations for the UILS National Client Counseling Competition – 2014 will be based on ‘Intellectual Property Rights and Consumer Protection Laws’.
It is expected that the Participants will dress formally for all the competition rounds and the Awards Ceremony. They could generally wear the attire typical of a lawyer i.e. either Black & White or Dark Gray attires.
Rounds:
There will be three (3) rounds of competition spread over one day. The Preliminary Rounds (Upto 20 Teams on ‘first come first’ basis) will be conducted as the first round of the competition.
The Semi Finals (For 6 shortlisted Teams) and then The Final Round (For the Final 2 Teams) will be conducted on 4th February, 2014.
Each team shall have a maximum of forty-five (45) minutes to complete the session.
This session must include both a consultation session with the client (ideally, 35 minutes) and a post-consultation (ideally, 10 minutes).
