    Your efforts are laudable. I think you concentrated more on Delhi, Metros and State Capitals. How much money is being paid by well experienced Senior Advocates practicing at Trial Courts is not known. For more clarity you may give information relating to the salaries being paid to 0- 5 years, 6-10 years, 10-15 years, 15-20 years and 20 years above Advocates. The tabular form will be Name of the Firm ( including the contact person’s name, mobile number or email), Law Branch, Experience of the Advocate required, Place, Remuneration being paid per month, per annum.

    By such analytical information even the interested Trial Court Advocates will also respond. Please make more efforts to bridge the gap between the reality and hype created in the minds of law students and their parents.

    Just curious are these salary packages for the students mostly passing out of good national law schools? Because landing a job at the top law firms would require to be mostly from such premier institutes I suppose.
    Iam in my last sem of the three years llb programme in amity university,noida. It would be helpful if you could kindly also tell me if I would start as a fresher in not a top notch corporate firm but something decent how much should I expect as a fresher ?

    • A lot of these places do accept top graduates from other colleges as well (hint: internships).

      While you are in Legal profession, you must comply yourself fluently in English. Generally, drafting works like plaint, pleading and conveyancing etc. are done in English. And I can see in your wtite that your English is not proper.

  30. This is a good indication. For sure, salaries are dependent on person’s capabilities for learning and growth. Most importantly, attitude towards work ethics. It would be hard to say that this is infact the salary that a fresher would get.

    This is very good effort to dispel some of the notions that main stream media builds / hypes/ indicates.

  36. Is Lawctopus suggesting that the above information is reliable? You started this on the basis that ET and others “mislead” parents about salaries. I can strongly rubbish most of the above figures. Its time that you take your words back or face a defamation suit!

      • That is sheer arrogance, Lawctopus. You first allege that your figures are accurate and give no reasons why you are alleging such accuracy. And you do so by also sharply alleging that mainstream newspapers do not provide a true picture. From what I understand, yours is an online form which anyone can fill. It is not something that can go unchallenged. Are you saying that the accuracy of the information lies at the mercy of the reader who may or may not send you an “email”? Why do you think a parent should prefer your rant over ET/BS? If you cannot answer that then perhaps there is no answer. There is no point in you correcting yourself after having received “emails” from readers. Instead, you should cross-check all information that you put here before it goes live. Its not a threat, its asking for transparency and responsibility – and as a reader of Lawctopus I have every right to these two basic ideas.

        • Hi Rajesh, we do not state that the figures are 100% accurate. Salary figures are dynamic and liable to ‘change’; a CTC will be different from a take home salary; salaries given to graduates from some law schools might be different from those given to others; etc. We’ll try to incorporate such things on this page. However, it might always not be the case.

          Mainstream newspapers have built a ‘hype’ over the BIGLAW salaries; we are trying to present a truer, more accurate picture of the salaries in the legal industry in India.

          However, these salary figures are definitely 90-95% accurate. Not only do we have this form, we are also in touch with the placement committees in various law schools. As we get more data points, these figures will become more accurate.

          The accuracy of the information does not lie at the ‘mercy’ of the ‘reader’ but at the ‘wisdom’ of the ‘crowd’. Think Wikipedia. Think Glassdoor.

          We’ve made our best efforts over the last 4 years in being ‘transparent’ and ‘responsible’ and rest assured, will continue to push ourselves towards these goals.

          • So essentially, there is no difference between what ET/BS say and Lawctopus, according to your own admission. It’s honest of you to start by saying that you are not providing 100% accuracy. Your readers, who mostly rely on your expert advice, in this case guardians and law aspirants, would appreciate if such a word of caution formed part of the main report that you are building.

            I am really sorry but I must point out that if the salary structure is so flexible as you allege it to be, what is it that you are trying to highlight here? And don’t you think you must also put a word of caution to that extent informing your readers that what you are presenting may not be a “true” and “accurate” picture of the salary structure as same is liable to change any time soon?

            You are new to this business of fact-based reporting (if at all) and I give you the benefit of doubt. But with popularity comes responsibility. You must own up to your mistakes and improve them instead of grandstanding. I am willing to have a private conversation with the Editor on this as this may get embarrassing/tedious for both of us.

            The salary structure is no ‘so’ flexible. A firm with a CTC of 6 lakhs PA (Rs. 50,000/month) might give Rs. 40,000/month in hand. The figures won’t vary ‘so’ much.
