India Institute and Amity School of Communication, Noida invites you to an all exclusive workshop for journalists & Researchers writing on Rule of Law and Property Rights. The workshop is aimed at hosting a dedicated session between experts and media persons & researchers, aimed at enriching and strengthening the media reportage on the diverse facets surrounding property rights in India.
Various aspects related to property rights issues in India and India’s position with respect to property rights and its standing in the international arena will be covered. This workshop will provide a platform to enrich understanding of property rights and rule of law through fruitful interactions with experts.
Along with significant domain experts, they will also have the opportunity to listen to and interact with the 2016 Hernando de Soto Fellow and International Property Rights Index (IPRI) author, Prof Sary Levy-Carciente, National Academy of Economics Sciences and Central University of Venezuela, who will be the main resource person presenting the highlights of this year’s rankings in the India Property Rights Conference 2016, New Delhi.
Prof Sary Levy- Carciente has provided an outstanding update of the Index not only in terms of research analysis and data collection, but she also analyzed the relationship of different dimensions of development with the IPRI and its components, including: Economic outcomes, Human Capabilities, Social Capital, Research and Innovation and Ecological Performance.
The speakers will interact with the workshop participants, to address their specific concerns and to clarify points of view based on the sessions. We trust that this workshop will contribute to reporting on property rights with keener understanding of the principles involved, thereby strengthening the role of media in shaping public discourse on a significant topic.
Workshop Objectives
Create an awareness of Property Rights & its impact on citizens.
Equip participants with objective tools to understand and evaluate Property Rights.
Ensure greater understanding of Property Rights through interaction with experts.
Provide a space to network with peers and share experiences and best practices.
Equip participants with a good understanding of India’s laws concerning property rights.
Workshop Highlights
The workshop is exclusive to journalists & researchers covering property rights and rule of law related issues. The editors are welcome to nominate representatives.
There is NO Registration Fee.
The workshop will accept up to 15 participants.
Selected participants will receive an honorarium of Rs 1000 towards travel allowance.
Participants will receive a certificate signed by Prof Sary Levy-Carciente, Author of International Property Rights Index 2016.

1. New thinking in private property rights for an advanced economy and what it means for India
2. Does regulation protect Property Rights of the Poor? An understanding through international examples
3. Systemic challenges to a corruption-free, stable economy
4. Emerging trends in Intellectual Property Rights
