About
The use of biometrics has been contentious across the world. This is due to potential threats to the security of databases, potential violation of privacy and imposition of heavy costs on the economy.
However, these issues remain on one side of the debate on biometrics. The benefits of biometrics include the promise of security, social benefits and the facilitation of criminal investigations. The biometrics debate is at the intersection of these two differing and often contentious perspective.
A dialogue on the technology and its incidental effect on privacy is of vital importance in this context. A multidisciplinary panel of leading experts will attempt to bring clarity to both sides of this debate.
