NALSAR’s DR. B R Ambedkar Social Justice Conference [April 12-14] + Essay Competition; Submit by March 31

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The proposed Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Social Justice Conference, 2014 will provide an interdisciplinary forum for scholars, , officials, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and civic leaders to discuss importance of Ambedkar’s ideas, ways to empower socially oppressed and ostracized groups, exploration of policies and practices to reform current system to encourage marginalized masses and strengthening judicial approach to engage with pressing demands for social justice.

ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION

Academicians, scholars, students, activists and intellectuals from all disciplines are invited to write and present their views in the conference. The participants are required to choose a theme for their essays. All participants are required to submit their abstracts along with the covering letter mentioning name and other details before deadline. The authors would be intimated about the selection of their abstracts through email. Best three entries will be awarded cash prizes.

Intimation of selection of abstracts: April 04, 2014

Last date of submission of final essay: April 10, 2014

Presentation: April 12, 13, and 14, 2014 (According to  schedule)

PRIZES

1st Prize: Rs. 15000

2nd Prize: Rs. 9000

3rd Prize: Rs. 6000

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

a) The abstract should not exceed 200 words.

b) Format of the Submission: The essay should be in the English language, typed on A-4 sized paper, 1.5 spaced and Times New Roman Script. The pages should be consecutively numbered. The mode of citation is the Harvard Bluebook Citation, 19th
edition. The essay should not exceed 2500-3000 words. Essay should be an original creation and any kind of plagiarism would lead to disqualification.

c) Authorship: Participants may send papers written either on their own or co-authored with a maximum of one other participant. Presentation of Essay would be mandatory for consideration for prize

THEMES

1. Dr. Ambedkar and reconstruction of the society.

2. Dr. Ambedkar’s contribution to women empowerment.

3. Importance of Dr.Ambedkar’s Philosohy in the contemporary times.

4. Methods and ideas to foster social inclusion.

5. Strengthening the present legislations to promote the welfare of oppressed communities

Any other entry related found suitable by the organizers shall also be accepted.

The conference will host other cultural events and lectures too.

All participants will have to pay for their accommodation and local transport. Participants can contact the organizers for subsidized accommodation. Local hospitality will be provided by the Organizers.
