NALSAR is organising its first Literary Festival themed Literature and Dissent on 18th-19th July 2015.
The first of a kind festival to be held within a law school setting will be held at at NALSAR in Shameerpet, Hyderabad with a packed two day schedule.
The list of events planned out for the fun-filled weekend includes panel discussions across various themes, namely-
a) Protest Movements and the Arts
b) Post Independence Literature: Unraveling Partition and Emergency Narratives,
c) Discrimination Depictions: Interwoven Identities, and
d) Non-Fiction Writing: Creativity vs. Objectivity.
The list of speakers include Urvashi Butalia (author, The Other Side of Silence), Amit Chaudhuri (author: Odysseus Abroad), Deepa Dhanraj (documentary film-maker, Invoking Justice) and Lawrence Liang (founder, Alternative Law Forum). These speakers will also be the primary panelists in the different panels.
Other major attractions include theatre performances by the Chennai based group, Thespian En, a book reading by The Little Theatre Group, and a poetry workshop by the Airplane Poetry Movement.
