JOB POST: Legal Associate @ Nyaya Bharti, Delhi [PQE: 1-4 Years, Salary b/w Rs. 25k – 28k]: Apply by Sept 25

Position

Nyaya Bharti, an initiative of Bharti Enterprises, is inviting applications for full time litigation positions (“Associates”) for the legal aid project aimed at providing sustainable legal assistance to the underprivileged undertrials languishing in various prisons in Northern India.

Currently, the initiative is seeking to engage around 2-3 Associates to work on full-time basis.

About Nyaya Bharti

Nyaya Bharti is one-of-its-kind Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative under the aegis of Bharti Foundation, by Bharti Enterprises, which is one of India’s most respected business groups.

The primary objective of Nyaya Bharti is to provide legal aid to the underprivileged undertrials who are first time offenders accused of petty offences and require legal and financial assistance for release on bail.

It also extends assistance to poor convicts undergoing imprisonment for petty offences due to their inability to pay petty fine imposed by the courts. Nyaya Bharti’s Governing Board is headed by Justice A.S. Anand (Retired Chief Justice of India).

Responsibility

Selected applicants would be expected to undertake all tasks involving:

Coordinating with District Legal Services Authorities;

Coordinating with prison authorities to ensure effective access to prison records;

Visiting, interacting and providing legal aid to jail inmates across NCR and other cities in North.

Appearing before Trial Courts and managing the bail process in cases meeting Nyaya Bharti criteria.

Qualifications and Prior Experience

Candidates must have a passion for criminal law and for working towards cause of the underprivileged.

Candidates must be qualified advocates having license to practice law in India.

Experienced candidates (atleast 1 – 4 years) are preferred.

Remuneration

Salary will be within the range of INR 25,000 – INR 28,000 per month depending upon experience, plus certain allowances.
