Wildlife Conservation Society-India is an organization that works towards conservation backed by science. We engage with governments and partner with several other NGOs to achieve the best results. We have undertaken a project called Counter Wildlife Trafficking which aims at addressing illegal wildlife trade in India.
About the Project
Wildlife Conservation Society-India has initiated a project called Counter Wildlife Trafficking, which seeks to build capacity amongst law enforcement agencies and the judiciary to combat wildlife trafficking in India. The project aims to improve India’s detection and enforcement agencies’ capacity to investigate, arrest, prosecute, convict and sentence criminal organizations that perpetrate wildlife trafficking.
To this end, WCS-India will conduct capacity building workshops for various stakeholders involved in investigation, enforcement and prosecution including the Forest Department, Police, Customs officials, Directorate of Enforcement, public prosecutors, judiciary etc.
Job Description
The primary responsibilities of the Law Officer are
- Assist with the creation of curriculum and conducting capacity building workshops for various agencies.
- Assist enforcement agencies with legal advice and help with cases on an ongoing basis.
- Conduct research on other aspects of environmental and wildlife law.

Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: B.A/B.B.A, L.L.B.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English required. Knowledge of Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil or Telugu is desirable. Interest and passion for wildlife conservation is a must.
- Preferred if the candidate has done an internship on environmental law.
