The Justice Project film festival organised by Aakar, a Trust based in New Delhi is being organised at Main Building, India International Centre (IIC), Lodhi Estate on May 25, 27, 29 and 30, 2015.
The festival will showcase several films from directors in India, Nepal, Pakistan and Srilanka.
About
The Justice Project is being coordinated and implemented by Aakar with support from International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
The screenings are in partnership with India International Centre. The directors will be present for a post screening discussion.
Five films from across South Asia bring us up close to the quest for justice in different settings and thereby rip open the shared fault lines of the region — conflicts based on caste, labour, religion, ethnicity, gender and nationalism.
In their own distinct ways, each film unravels the relationship of justice to law. Each film documents the struggles of individuals, collectives and movements that emerge from the operations of law.
In the process, each film also records the unjustness of law. These are five stories that attempt to address the troubling question of why law and constitutional guarantees fall silent in areas of conflict and the consequence of this silence on people’s lives.
