The Finance Research Group at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research [IGIDR] is hiring a researcher who has prior experience in Land Laws and 2-3 years of work experience in Mumbai.
Job Description
This position is for a full-title researcher for a project involving research on the land laws in Maharashtra, the state of land title records in Maharashtra and its impact on the land market.
We are looking for a lawyer with experience in conveyancing/ land laws in Maharashtra and who has practical experience in dealing with government offices and departments, such as the Sub-Registrar’s offices, in the field. The project will involve some field work in collaboration with field surveyors and government officers. The project will end by mid-2017.
The position will involve working with persons from varying backgrounds including field surveyors, government officials and economists. It will also involve dealing with government offices and departments on a regular basis.
It is an ideal position for practitioners looking to experience policy work while leveraging off their existing experience and skill sets. It is an opening for those looking to foray into research-backed public policy areas.
Eligibility
Bachelor’s degree in law with 2 – 3 years of experience.
The office functions on free and open source softwares like Linux, LaTeX, R and others. Previous experience in Linux is not required.
However, if appointed, the candidate will be required to learn and use this software. The candidate must be willing to adapt to technology, work long hours, and deliver quality products within defined timelines.
Salary
