About
The South India AIDS Action Programme is a 25 year old registered not-for-profit organization that builds the capacities of marginalised/ vulnerable people to build scalable models that can enable them to access their rights and to advocate for appropriate policies.
Our experience spans a range of development sectors including sexuality and gender, violence against women, disability, human rights, reproductive health education, access and accountability, nutrition, micro-credit, and livelihood.
Our beneficiary communities include young men and women in rural areas, expecting and new mothers, people with HIV or AIDS, children, male and female sex workers, truckers, migrants, men having sex with men, trans communities, and visually challenged people as well as national, state, and district local policy makers, health care personnel, and local administrations.
Our recent initiative in coordination with Unicef and DoSD involves designing and developing a model shelter home for children in difficult circumstances and in government care.
Aim
The primray objective is to help children progress towards succesful reintegration with their families or with foster parents.
The program seeks application from suitable candidates for the post of one Program Coordinator its intervention at Ranipet.

Programme Coordinator
Model shelter home for children in difficult circumstances, based in Chennai
Position Summary
Working closely with and supporting the Executive Director, the Programme Coordinator is an integral team member and has the opportunity to shape how a team maximizes impact on the most important challenges in successful reintegration of children in difficult circumstances with families or foster care.
Their primary responsibilities are to develop a strong and efficient professional relationship between SIAAP, the Children’s home authorities at Ranipet, the Department of Social Defense, Chennai, and UNICEF, Chennai, ensure that the approved plan is implemented, planned activities are carried out within the allocated time, outcomes delivered, and process and event documentation as planned are available and shared with stakeholders.
S/he will also be responsible for reviewing the programme on a monthly basis and finalising changes in strategy if required in collaboration with the programme management committee that will comprise representatives of different stakeholder groups.
Qualifications and Skills required
Under Graduate or advanced degree in a law from institutes of good repute
At least 2-3 years professional experience
Demonstrated ability to complete tasks within available timelines and resources
Excellent organizational skills, and readiness to lead teams through a complex and ambiguous task.
Ability to work with multiple stakeholders
Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills including experience assembling, organizing and analyzing appropriate information, extracting insights and communicating findings.
Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills to effectively calibrate input and synthesize information to connect with varied and diverse audiences.
Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, enthusiasm and sensitivity
Proficient in use of computers and internet applications
Understanding/interest in working with children of children related issues
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Tamil
Willing to travel/stay in Ranipet at least 15 days in a month
Ability to work with minimum supervision and meeting timelines
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables will include:
Collaborate with Executive Director, the SIAAP team, and other stakeholders to implement planned programme as per agreed timelines
Build consensus and commitment among stakeholders and clarify roles and responsibilities.
Contribute to the design and implementation of processes and tools to improve strategy development and execution
Collaborate and develop monitoring materials to drive project execution (e.g. analyses, project plans, meeting materials, strategy document outputs, communication updates, etc.) and meeting facilitation.
Oversee preparation of Standard Operating Procedures, and training materials for each stage of intervention
Initiate and follow up on connection with the family of child/foster care
Strengthen research and documentation
Develop partnership building with volunteers/mentors in the community
Ensure convergence of services from various departments & agencies
Share lessons learned and best practices with stakeholders
Conduct review meetings with Unicef, DoSD and SIAAP.
Ensuring accurate documentation at sites and timely submission of reports to SIAAp, Unicef and DoSD.
Build strong and positive relationships with Department of Social Defense and UNICEF for long-term engagement with SIAAP
The coordinator will be responsible to compile and submit reports on a monthly, quarterly and Annually to SIAAP and to the donor.
