Innocence Network India is now accepting internship applications for its strategic litigation programme.
We seek enthusiastic people committed to human rights, with the willingness to interact with others, and a desire to increase their hands-on experience of social and legal issues.
The internship will require working with a panel of advocates in various courts in New Delhi on cases related to terror prosecution and compensation for terror exonerees. Applicants who have interned with advocates previously will be preferred.
About the organisation: Founded in 2016, Innocence network is a nationwide collective of individuals and organizations working for the rights of those who have been wrongfully prosecuted or convicted, especially under charges of terrorism.
Led by the exonerees themselves, the Network will be facilitated by senior members of the legal fraternity, policy practitioners, as well civil liberties groups.
The Network seeks reform at the criminal justice level to prevent the practice of unjust incarceration and undertake strategic litigation to achieve its ends. It also aims to establish support mechanisms for exonerees to help rebuild their lives post-release.
Duration: 2 months (June-July, 2018)
Work hours: 11 am to 6 pm
Stipend: Unfortunately, we are not able to provide a stipend for this internship position.
Who can apply: 4th and 5th year law students with previous litigation experience.
