HENRY DUNANT RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS 2014
Call for Applications
The International Committee of the Red Cross, Regional Delegation for India, Bhutan and Maldives is pleased to announce five short term (two months) Henry Dunant Research Fellowships 2014 in the field of International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
Eligibility :
Students from South Asian countries enrolled in an Indian university/institution/college are eligible to apply.
Applicant must be below the age of 35 years as of 31st December 2014.
Applicant must be currently pursuing a Post Graduate, M.Phil or Doctoral course from a reputed University/college/institution in any of the following disciplines – Law, International Relations, Political Science, Sociology, Peace and Conflict Studies, Human Rights, Defence Studies
Applicant must possess an excellent command over written English and demonstrable research skills.
Young faculty employed in universities in India and fulfilling the above mentioned criterion are also eligible to apply
Fellowship Amount :
The Fellowship consists of a one-time grant of Rs.8,000/- (eight thousand Indian Rupees only)
Time Frame :
Successful applicants will have two months to submit completed research papers.
Application Procedure:
The Applicant must submit a detailed Research Proposal outlining research areas and issues.
A detailed Curriculum Vitae along with certified copies of degrees, certificates and proof of enrolment in a course should be submitted
Applicant must submit a Letter of Motivation of (750 words maximum) outlining reasons for applying for this Fellowship.
Applicant must submit a ‘writing sample’ such as a copy of an article or paper published/presented with the application form.
Names and contact details of two referees should also be provided.
The Legal Adviser-Academic Programmes and the Regional Legal Adviser in the IHL Unit in the ICRC Regional Delegation, New Delhi will jointly determine successful applicants.

Citation and Submission Guidelines
Submissions are to be made only in electronic form. They are to be sent to – asaibabaa@icrc.org
Details about the author, including qualifications and institutional affiliations, if any, are to be detailed in the covering letter.
Only original work need be sent. It is presumed that, once the work has been sent, that it is the original work of the author so named and that it has not been published anywhere else.
The paper should be submitted in in MS Word format. (.doc or .docx)
The author should maintain a uniform mode of citation throughout the whole work with Font of 12 Ariel Narrow
The final research paper should be double spaced within the range of 10-15,000 words.
Scope and Relevance:
The work must be on contemporary issues in IHL.
Publication of Research Paper
The papers should be wholly original submissions without being edited, proofread, aided in any other way by other persons. The scholars will be the copyright owners and are entitled to publish the research article/paper compiled with the assistance of this Fellowship. However they must submit 5 copies of the published article to the ICRC Regional Delegation for India, Bhutan & Maldives.
The deadline for submission of research proposal is 25th August 2014.
