About GNLU
Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Gandhinagar- a world-class university in the making is the largest NLU of India in terms of student, faculty and research associate strength, boasting five UG Specialization. GNLU is also a nodal agency mandated to enhance legal education in 32 law colleges across Gujarat.
GNLU offers interdisciplinary legal courses in five faculties namely, B.A.LLB, B.Com. LLB, B.Sc. LLB, BSW. LLB, BBA. LLB; two post-graduate programme namely, LLM and MBA (Financial Management and Business Laws) as well as doctoral programmes in law and interdisciplinary fields and foreign law and languages programmes.
About the GNLU-SJVN Research Fellowship on Hydropower Development and Environmental Law
In line with GNLU’s constant endeavor to identify contemporary legal and other issues faced by our country, at the instance of GNLU and with the recommendation of Ministry of Power, Government of India, Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd., a mini-ratna company has established GNLU- SJVN Fellowship on Hydro Power Development and Environment Law and Rehabilitation & Resettlement Laws, dedicated to research and training on issues related to hydropower development, environmental challenges and land acquisition and r&r issues.
Renewable energy has emerged as a mechanism to achieve sustainable development. Owing to its essential position, the GNLU-SJVN Research Fellowship on Hydro Power Development and Environment Law aims to complement, supplement and fill research gaps and to further contribute to promote the intellectual inputs to the debate and policy developments on hydro power development.
The collaborative GNLU-SJVN Research Fellowship is an effective modality of GNLU and SJVN to address the growing legal concerns of hydropower generation and environmental issues, it also aims to provide sound and sustained legal research, drafting, capacity building and educational assistance to administrative law stakeholders.
Aim
The guest lecture on Land Acquisition Law: Policy and Procedure, aims to provide the participants with an in-depth understanding of the legislative framework governing land acquisition. The guest lecture will highlight the challenges faced atpresent and discuss & debate the most appropriate solutions for it.
It will also anticipate future problems and deliberate suitable amendments in the laws in a holistic manner.

- New land acquisition laws, policies rules and procedures with special reference to rehabilitation and settlement.
- Issues and Challenges in Land Acquisition in India with specific reference to hydro power projects.
Speaker
Dr P.K. Agrawal, IAS (Retd.) Reputed Author, Administrator, Advocate and Consultant
He has served as a Lecturer in Law, University of Allahabad. Also served Indian Administrative Service, from 1976 of West Bengal Cadre to 2010 (34 years) majorly in the area of Land Reforms.
He has also served as a Director of Land Record and Surveys, West Bengal (1992-94), Joint Secretary, Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice, Govt. of India {5½ years (1997-2002), Addl. District Magistrate (Land Reforms) and many other.
