About ECTA
ECTA, the European Communities Trade Mark Association, is a non-governmental association that unites members coming from all European Union Member States with associate members from all over the world.
About the Award
European Communities Trade Mark Association is organising the ECTA Award 2020.
The purpose is to grant an Award to an individual who has written an article or an essay of importance for the development of European trademark law, design law, copyright law or geographical indications law. It is intended to present the Award in Copenhagen during the ECTA 39th Annual Conference.
Award Criteria
Many jurisdictions in Europe have varying traditions of intellectual property law that are often distinctively associated with and shaped by a variety of country-specific factors, including different legal frameworks, especially with regard to procedural law, regulatory and economic circumstances of those countries, among others.
The diverse character and makeup of its international membership and its strong link to many European Institutions makes ECTA uniquely suited among associations to foster and encourage further academic research and examination of intellectual property law in different European countries.
In support of this goal, ECTA considered the merits associated with such an Award and believes the following criteria for the ECTA AWARD are most consistent with the ECTA mission.
