Pravin Gandhi College of Law is organising a Conference on Dimensions of Democracy.
The concept of democracy is central to our contemporary political lexicon, yet agreement on how to conceptualize democracy is far from widespread.A deliberation on democracy has more at stake than merely an academic interest. The concept of democracy has gained universal appeal despite its nascent evolution.
- Firstly, how we understand the concept of democracy guides our practical considerations on how democratic institutions are designed. It generates a blueprint of good governance reasonably expected from a democratic set-up and ignites debates concerning political legitimacy.
- Secondly, the representation of a democratic rule is varied and offers many solutions to an autocratic government but it also raises pressing concerns regarding people’s power, rule of law, effectiveness and human empowerment.
- Thirdly, exploring the interplay of various impending factors, such as, economy, age-demographics, and political convictions, all of which add fluidity to the concept of democracy.
- Lastly, since democracy is firmly rooted in the participative process, the development and result of democracy affects the public and stems from public opinion.

Guidelines for Submission:
- Only original, unpublished papers may be submitted.
- Language: English
- File Type: MS Word Document
- Font: Times New Roman, Size 12, Line Spacing 1.5, Margins 1″ (All sides)
- Full Paper Length: Min. 3000 words – Max. 6000 words
- Citation are essential and footnotes must be in the format of the Harvard Bluebook 19th edition.
- Full paper to be mailed to dimensionsofdemocracy[at]gmail.com.
- Abstract length: 800 words: to be submitted by 29th February 2020.
- Abstracts must contain references and keynotes and the tentative title of the paper.
- Full paper submission to be made by 15th March 2020.
The best paper-presentation will receive the ‘Best Paper Award’.
Note: The abstract will be reviewed only after the payment of the Registration Fee.
