CLAT 2011 Pattern Announced, NUJS Makes Significant Changes

The pattern for Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2011 has been announced and the announcement is pretty clear as to what CLAT expects from the prospective law students.

The distribution of marks is as below:

CLAT 2011 will be a 200 mark, 2 hour exam and will contain multiple choice questions only.

The English section, according to the website will contain comprehension passages and questions on English grammar. “Correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling in of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.”, the website emphasizes.

The General Knowledge section will concentrate only on current affairs from May 2010 to May 2011.  Students weak at Mathematics can rejoice as only elementary maths questions of standard 10 level will be asked.

The section on Logic Reasoning will surely lay stress on syllogisms, logical sequences and analogies while there will be no question on ‘visual reasoning’. This has been done so as not to disadvantage the visually impaired students.

Legal Reasoning too will be ‘legal reasoning’ in its truest sense and students taking CLAT will not need to have any prior knowledge of the legal concepts.

Finally, the age of the CLAT candidate should not be more than 20 years in case of General/OBC candidates (22 years in case of SC/ST and persons with Disability) as on 1st July, 2011.
