Centre for Accountability and Systemic Change (CASC) invites law students to take part in its online internship programme on Election Laws. In the past, members of CASC have assisted the Election Commission in coming out with Instructions on Social Media in 2013.
They have also represented to the Election Commission on the issue of applicability of demonetization to political parties in November 2016. In addition, Supreme Court judgment banning seeking of votes in the name of religion, caste, creed etc. was sought to be implemented by the member of CASC.
Students selected will get to work on topics such as Social Media and Elections, Governance during Model Code of Conduct, Financing of Political Parties, Political Advertisements and Enforcement of present directions of the Election Commission etc.
In addition, students will also get a chance to suggest changes in Election Laws. As part of the process, interns will get to draft RTI Applications, Research Reports and Representations to Constitutional Authorities.
The internship will be online, in which daily/weekly assignments will be given. Expected time allocation will be 2 hours/day. An intern will work individually as well as in collaboration with other interns.
