Concept Note
India’s biggest tax reform is now a reality. A comprehensive Goods and Services Tax (GST) has replaced the complex multiple indirect tax structure from 1st July, 2017.
GST is a destination-based tax that has replaced a plethora of other taxes levied earlier. It is levied dually with State/Union territory GST and Central GST.
Though it would ultimately reduce complexities in indirect taxation in the Country, it is bound to meet with teething problems in its initial phase of implementation. Thus, it is very likely that uncertainties and ambiguities would prevail in the near future.
To clarify these, and provide a platform for interaction among various stakeholders, DSNLU, as a part of its 10th Foundation Day Celebrations, ‘Tenth Ortus’ is organizing “Tax Cognito” National Workshop on Legal Contours of GST.
Subject experts would enlighten the participants on the complexities and intricacies on the concept of Goods and Service Tax.
