Call for Applications

PocketLawyer.com is seeking freelance writers with 3+ years in Legal Industry to write copy to optimize our website to generate more inquiries.

Ideally, you’ve been writing professionally for at least 3 years, and have 2+ years experience in legal sector. You are an excellent researcher, who can proficiently write in English and you have been previously published on reputable blogs and websites.

Responsibilities include

Writing 3-4 blog posts per week. (We’ll provide topics and outlines, though ideas are always appreciated.)

Contribute to Facebook and Twitter accounts multiple times per week.

Assist with website copy as needed.

Possibility of managing weekly mass emails.

You’ll also have a portfolio of blog posts proven to earn a lot of shares on social media.

Send these four things as a part of your application:

A link to your resume or website

Links to 3-5 related pieces you’ve published elsewhere

Your rates

Weekly availability

In the first line of your message, write “I paid attention and read the full posting.” Otherwise, we won’t consider your application.

Write “I’m a Legal/Tax Blogger” in the subject line to be considered.

Things to Keep in Mind When You Plan to Write for us:

Make sure the article is not a press release or promotional in nature.

Our readers mainly comprise of individuals, professionals and entrepreneurs interested in understanding different aspects of the law. Write with the perspective of simplifying the law so that even a layman can understand it.

The article should, at least, be 600 words.

We don’t reblog articles. If it has been published anywhere else, we refrain from republishing.

Kinds of articles- Your topic must be about the law. Legislative Change, Court, Consumer, Politics, Startup, Crime, Family or anything else with a legal angle. Your content should be written with the perspective of simplifying law or to provide valuable insights and information related to law.

Before you start writing, do some research; find legal or factual content to support your opinion (if any).

Before you get down to writing, frame your topic in the form of a question (lawyer-types will say “issue”); the rest of your piece must focus (or attempt) to answer that question.

Submissions that contain racist, sexist or xenophobic marks will not be published. You should ask yourself, “How will another person perceive what I have written?”

Try to keep the legal jargon to bare necessity – while this blog is about the law, most of the members of the audience will know nothing about the law.
