Date
19th – 22nd April, 2016
Venue
Sambhaavnaa Campus, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh
Objectives
Develop conceptual understanding of power, gender & sexuality.
Examine these concepts in the context of our constitutional rights as citizens of India.
Move from the paradigm of dominance to collaborative working.
Look at one’s own role in the process of social transformation.
Main issues we will cover:
What is gender? How does it relate to me and the world around me?
What is gender-based violence? How does this violence affect us?
Is power always negative? Can it be used positively?
What do these concepts have to do with our constitutional rights?
How do we understand the all-pervasive structures of oppression we see around us?
Can we re-imagine new collaborative systems?
Methodology
The facilitators will use participatory tools like games, exercises, individual reflection, interactive discussions, theatre, joyous singing and other creative ways of self-expression.
They believe that while these methods may not change the world, they definitely make it a better place to be in!
