CALL FOR COURT REPORTER
In 2017, the Centre for Law and Policy Research has set up a beta version of a website on the Supreme Court of India called the Supreme Court Observer.
The Observer is a non-partisan journalistic effort to make the work of the Supreme Court intelligible to any person interested in Indian public affairs.
The aim of the Observer is to communicate the relevance and importance of the Supreme Court’s work in a constitutional democracy without embellishment or outrage and focus public attention on the issues of great public significance.
The emphasis of the project is accessibility and simplicity in presentation in order to ensure maximum public engagement.
We are looking to hire a Court Reporter who will be based in Delhi and undertake the following tasks.
- On the ground reporting on the Supreme Court of India on cases and issues as directed by the Observer team.
- Attend hearings of cases at the Supreme Court of India that are tracked by the Observer.
- Liaise and interact with lawyers and other individuals and firms from the legal community who are involved in cases tracked by the Observer.
- Write content – case briefs, blog posts, op-eds etc. – for the Observer website.
- Assist with further development of functionality of the Observer website.
The period of engagement of the Court Reporter for this phase of development of the Supreme Court Observer website will be from the date of joining to November 2017.
Interested candidates must have an excellent academic background and writing skills. Prior experience of working in the Supreme Court of India and/or a legal journalism background will be an advantage.
