About the organiser
Bennett University established by the Times of India Group by the Act no 24 of 2016 of Government of Uttar Pradesh.
The Centre for Law and Social Sciences at Bennett University promotes research and teaching in law and social science.
The Centre focuses both on the law as an output (e.g. why do we see the laws we do, and what explains the design and change of legal institutions?) as well as law as an input (e.g. how does the law and application of the law affect social behaviour?).
About the conference
BULexConvo Series
The BULexConvo series was conceptualised as a platform to bring debate and discussion about various emerging legal issues with socio-economic dimensions to the forefront of academic conversations.
The term ‘Lex’ connotes ‘law’ and ‘Convo’ connotes ‘conversation’.
The first event under the aegis of BULexConvo Series, a national conference titled ‘Conundrum of Theory and Practice in Legal Education’ was held on the 15th and 16th of February 2019 at the School of Law, Bennett University, Greater Noida.
The conference deliberated on the theory-practice chasm and its impact, lack of research quotient in law, technology disruption of attention span, lack of innovation in clinical legal education, innovation in continuing legal education and attendant issues.
The second conference in the series aims to discuss and deliberate on how law impacts development and social inclusion and the role played by social sciences in achieving the multi-faceted outcomes of law.
The BULexConvo Series hopes to establish the School of Law at Bennett University as a trailblazing forum for future legal debates in India.
