About the Organizer

The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana is a statutory body created by the Indian Parliament to regulate and represent the Indian Lawyers. The council performs regulatory functions by prescribing standards of professional conduct and etiquette and also by exercising disciplinary jurisdiction over the Bar.

The Bar Council of India was established by Parliament under the Advocates Act, 1961. The statutory function under Section 6 of the 1961 Act mandates for the State Council to promote and support law reform and to conduct seminars and talks on legal topics by eminent jurists and publish journals and papers of legal interest.
