The AILET stands for All India Law Entrance Test which is conducted by the National Law University (NLU) Delhi.
Aim
AILET aims to the admission of aspirants to various courses in the area of Law, such as BA, LLB (Hons.), LLM as well as PhD courses.
The NLU, Delhi has invited applications for various courses on their official website.
The National Law University Delhi
National Law University is a well-known University of India that provides education for the different aspects of Legal system.
The university is established at Delhi since the year 2008.
The Courses offered by the University
LLM – It is a One Year Program
BA, LLB (Hons.) – It is a Five Year Program
PhD – It is a Doctoral Program
Eligibility Criteria for AILET 2016
For BA LLB (Hons.)
He/ She must have cleared 10+2 level of exams with minimum 50% marks.
Those who are currently in the last year and giving exam or awaiting the result of final exam are also eligible.
However, in case they get admission, they will have to satisfy the condition of minimum qualification else the admission will be cancelled and no fee will be refunded.
The maximum age required is 21 year for general and OBC category students while for SC and ST candidates the upper age is 23 years.
The aspirants must have minimum 40% marks for general category and 30% for SC/ST category in the test to get the admission.
This test is for Indians only.
For LLM
One must have cleared LLB or similar degree from a government approved university with a minimum of 55% for General category and 50% for SC/ST/PWD aspirants.
The Admission of a foreign applicant will be done on his LL.B score or on similar test score.
For such aspirant the minimum percentage is also 55%.
He will also need to appear in a personal interview to prove his proficiency in English.
For PhD
For this course the aspirants must possess a MA in Law or related discipline from a government approved university with minimum 55% for general and 50% marks for reserved category students or one can have a grade in law as well as Master’s Degree in MPhil with social science subject or Humanity with at least 55% or he can have a grade in Law and/or PhD in any stream or a Judge of the high court with 3 years’ relevant experience or being a Judge of the Supreme Court of India.

Application procedure for AILET 2016
The application for this test can be made online only.
One can visit the website of the university and apply.
The Test Pattern for AILET 2016
The test for UG course comprises of 150 questions and each question carry one mark.
The subjects are GK, English, Reasoning and Numerical Ability, Legal Aptitude, with the period of 90 minutes.
The Numerical Ability section comprises a total of 35 marks with 10 marks.
The post graduate test comprises of 100 MCQ.
Each question is with one mark and there will be a write up of 50 marks.
The period of this test is also 90 minutes and the subjects of the test will be Legal Theory, Criminal Law, law of agreements and law of offences, as well as constitutional law.
