They usually work seven days a week. Work timings are flexible. Interns are expected to work from 10 am-6 pm six days a week.
First impression, First day formalities, Infrastructure
It is a small team comprising of two laywers. There were no formalities.
Mr Ramana Kumar who has been a Chartered Accountant with over two decades of experience immediately put me at ease.
He went through my CV asking me questions and explained their area of expertise and the kind of work they get. The office is spacious and air conditioned.
Main Tasks
The best part about this internship was the variety of work given to an intern.
They largely work with
I.Tax and corporate matters : Advisory, opinions,representation and appearances in litigation
II. Indirect Tax : CESTAT and above
SEBI, Company law matters : Representation and above
RBI & FEMA : Representation upwards
Drafting, proof reading, research and making presentations are a few tasks given.
Work environment, People
Mr Ramana is very friendly and helpful. He is willing to teach and answer questions. He also expects professionalism and poses questions so you think out of the box.
The work ethic is brilliant and the nature of work is niche. It requires a lot of reading up. As it is a small team of two lawyers, you are constantly updated on each case and there is always work.

For someone who had no idea about IT act, SEBI and CESTAT, the exposure really helps put things in perspective.
The work is not mundane or clerical and you actually make a contribution and learn something at the end of the day.
