Name of Organisation, Location, Team Strength
The Hindu, New Delhi, at a time, we were about 5 interns. They do not hire a lot of student interns.
Application Process
Apply via an email but getting in touch with the HR is more effective. You can call on the landline number and ask the operator to connect you. Following this, you have to sit for a written exam and a short interview.
Then they, shortlist students.
Duration of internship and timings
One month usually. I worked with the reporting department. So, at times, I was sent out for field work, in which case I was pre informed via an e-mail or call.
In case of no field work, I reported latest by 2:30 PM but there was no out time as such. It depended on the number stories you had to do. However, Sir did not let girls stay for very late in the night, considering how unsafe Delhi was.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
First day impression was amazing as I was introduced to the senior employees. They are extremely warm and do not make you feel not needed.
Office is amazing, there are two inbuilt cafetarias in the building.
Main tasks
Apart from doing field work and covering events, main work would include framing stories. But, they are very particular about the language and the framing of the report. So, make sure you are in a regular habit of reading the paper.
Work environment and people
Work environment is superb, they do not promote Sir/Mam culture and even seniors would insist you to address them with names.
Best things
Thorough discussions on the burning issues throughout the world. You get to meet people whose stories you’ve so fondly read. And the biggest perk is to get your write -ups get published.
Bad things
They do not give by-lines to interns.
Stipend
NIL
Biggest Lessons
Writing style, technique, mode of dealing with interviewees.
Any Other Thing
Carry your laptops.

I worked with Hindu in my 3rd semester and I have several articles that have my name alongside them. So you claiming they do not give us interns by-lines is untrue. Even my co-intern published several articles with her name. We were the only two interns at the time. This was last year in June 2013.
plzz give us the mail id or phone number so that we can too apply for internship..
