Application Process
Mr. Purnendu Chakravarty, Advocate High Court, is an outstanding criminal lawyer.
I got to intern under him through an internal contact.
Duration of internship and timings
I interned under him for a period of four weeks in the month of January.
The timings were from 10 AM in the morning to 5 PM in the evening.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
One day before the starting of my internship period I visited his chamber which was situated in Aliganj.
After having a talk with him he told me to just attend courts as it was first year itself.
I was handed over to a Junior Associate of his office who told me to come to the court from the next day itself.
Main tasks
I saw how the proceedings were carried on both at the District Courts and at the Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench.
I came to know how the witnesses are cross examined.
I even came to know what is the procedure as to how a case is decided.
I was asked to read the case files and know what the case exactly was.
Work environment and people
The work environment was nice and pleasant.
The associates were friendly and explained whatever I asked them.
Best things
The best thing was that Adv. Purnendu Chakravarty, who is considered as one of the finest lawyer who practices in CBI courts, I got to see him plead in the Courts.
Bad things
Nothing bad at all.
I enjoyed and learned a lot during my internship period.
Stipend
No Stipend.
Biggest Lessons
I came to know that becoming a successful lawyer needs immense hard work and dedication.
