Application Process

There is no application process as such.

You can visit their office which is located at 4 Deen Dayal Upadhaya Marg, New Delhi- 110002 and submit your CV with a cover letter in the administrative office.

Duration of internship and timings

Minimum period of internship should be 15 days. Mine was for 20 days, from 10 June 2014 to 30th June 2014.

Timing : 10 A.M to 4.30 P.M

They are strict about these timing and expect you to strictly follow them.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

I entered NCW Office and found out that they have various cells working under it.

For example they have Suo Moto cell, Complaint cell etc.

I was placed in Suo Moto cell under Ms. Suman (coordinator).

This cell takes Suo Moto cognisance on the basis of media report.

The cabins are suffocated and they have a real bad electricity problem.

Main tasks

The main task was to read the media report of a particular case.

Draft a letter to seek ATR (action taken report) from the concerned authority.

If the report is already there, then I had to make a summary of that report and attach it to the file.

I was also asked to maintain a register with file numbers in it.

Work environment and people

As I have mentioned above they don’t have a very good work environment as there is a huge electricity problem and the cabin are suffocating.

People are friendly there.

Specially my coordinator, Suman ma’am was really nice to me. She use to help me with everything.

She use to give me a lot of work to ensure I learn as much as possible in these 20 days.

Best things

Best thing about this internship was that I made a really nice friend.

A complete workaholic and learnt many thing from her.

It was nice to be with her.

It was a great learning experience at National Commission for Women.

Bad things

There are no eateries around that place which made it difficult to stay there!

So you better carry your food!

Biggest Lessons

No big lessons as such! But if you’re not a punctual person? This internship would certainly make you one.

Any Other Thing

You’ll have to submit a 2 page report on what you learnt during your internship on the last day.

You will be given the certificate there and then, that won’t be an issue.
