Duration of internship and timings
Three Weeks(November-December 2013)
I was expected to report at 9 AM and work upto 8 PM in the evening (they are particularly strict about the timings).
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The Kale and Shinde office is rather small and and lacks a suitable library.
The first day is generally devoted to being allotted a department and being briefed about the nature of work handled by that particular department.
Main tasks
Preparation of briefs for the head of my depart as well as the partners and also observing the same cases in the various courts and tribunals in the city of Pune and its neighboring districts.
Assisting the various associates with research work such as the finding and assessing the suitability of case-law.
Work environment and people
The Partners at Kale and Shinde are not easily approachable however the same cannot be said about the associates who were particularly helpful and encouraging.
The work environment is very strict and lackadaisical behaviour not is tolerated.
Best things
Since the firm is small, interns are given a lot of work, responsibility, guidance and encouragement which leads you to realise that you are actually contributing to the firm in a meaningful manner.
