Duration of internship and timings

4 weeks time duration with no specified timings.

However, usually it commenced from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

Exploring rural Rajasthan is always an albeit task but at the same time its adventurous with rising mercury level.

The very first day left an impression of tough survival as the task of working at MNREGA site for 5 consecutive hours really signified that high level of glucose is required in the blood.

The initial formalities required me to fill up my personal details along with the submission of my resume.

The organization has no such luxurious infrastructure and it rather follows a very simple living style with two large size halls along with a kitchen.

The organization followed a self dependency approach under which every task was to move from the interns side which covered the task of cooking to cleaning.

Main tasks

Visiting the villages of a particular block to conduct public meetings in furtherance to hear the public grievances and simultaneously creating awareness about the various procedures to get the quick and stern redress of their grievances.

Moreover, the tasks at MKSS included to reach out to various bureaucrats with the figures of public grievances in order to force them for the proper checks and balances.

Work environment and people

It was a first hand experience to interact with the people from the different parts of the country who were there for various social concerns.

The organization doesn’t follow any hierarchical system.

It, in fact, follows a down-to-earth approach with the sole emphasis on social work and providing platform to everybody in such process of work.

Best things

Very down-to-earth approach with no hierarchical system.

Session conducted at the organisation always instigated some or other aspects to survive for ourselves as well as others.

Bad things

A time period of 4 weeks didn’t lead me to encounter any shortcomings on the part of organisation.

However, planning in advance can be really effective.
