How big was the office? Team strength?
The office is located at DLF Towers, Jasola. Kochhar & Co owns 3 floors. So, the office is pretty big. The Delhi Office is also the largest of the five full service offices of the Firm. In fact, Kochhar & Co is the only law firm with full service offices in the six prominent Indian cities of New Delhi, Mumbai (Bombay), Bangalore, Chennai (Madras)
There were around 50 people on my floor (i.e. the 11th floor) excluding the office managers and clerks. Mr Rohit Kochhar has his cabin on the same floor.

I did 4 weeks internship. Usually 5 days are working but you have to ask the associate(s) you are assigned to before taking an off on Saturdays.
Accommodation: how, where, how was it?
I live in the NCR so I commuted daily via Metro till Jasola. The office is a 2 minute rickshaw ride from the metro station. Other interns were also commuting by metro from various parts of Delhi. One can get a PG in Noida or Sarita Vihar which are closely located.
First impression. First day, formalities etc.
I was made to sit in the conference room. Was given a form to fill and a worksheet which you should fill every day and write the work you did for the day. Then someone from the HR briefs you about the working of the office. They will show you your workstation.
Soon after I was made to meet the partner and the associate I was assigned to. My first impression was that the office was so spick and span and everyone had their own desktops and workstations.
Main tasks
Mostly the interns have to do research work using legal databases (they have access to Manupatra and SCC online) and books from the library which is huge . I interned in June so the courts were closed that time. Moreover, I had opted for the corporate team so as it is the court visits weren’t needed much.
I was deputed on an International Commercial Arbitration matter since the 1st day itself which was great as I got the opportunity to attend the proceedings of the same. But on completing my task of the day I used to take work from other associates too.
Yes, you can do that and sometimes you might even be called and given work. It is advisable that you take work according to your efficiency and capability of meeting deadlines.
All the interns were assigned to different teams so there was less of common work but mostly everybody did the same work of tracing precedents, reading and interpreting provisions, briefing the associates etc.
Work environment, people
The work environment is pretty good. Everyone minds their own business. There is neither too much of leg pulling or gossiping.
People are friendly and helpful.
Best things?
You enjoy your personal space, personal desktop, usual facility of tea, coffee, and access to the library etc. Also, there is a separate IT unit whom you can approach if anything goes wrong with your desktop and they solve it within seconds.
The lunch break was from 1-3pm you could go as per your wish to the cafeteria and eat or you could order food. The data of eating joints is available at the reception.
The best thing is you are never sitting idle and staring at the walls or people passing by. There is always work for the interns even in the month of June !!!!!
You get to see Mr Rohit Kochhar too clad in an expensive suit entering with his body guard and his glossy Limousine parked right next to the entry gate.
Bad things?
There was no common place for all interns to sit. Everybody had their own places next to some associate or the other. So, the level of chit-chatting was low.
Also, there was no formal introduction amongst the interns. Each intern had to make an individual effort to break the ice with the other.
What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues
There are places to chill in the complex itself so there was no need to travel to some market or something. Anyways in the month of June one prefers to be indoors. There is Subway, Sagar Ratna, a few fancy lounge and some local eating joints.
The funny thing is there is also a wine and beer shop in the premises.

My experience turned out to be great towards the end as I got to attend the matter I spoke about above. Got to meet some of the eminent lawyers and judges and most importantly got to hear them.
Biggest lessons
From Co-interns – Avoid the interns who try to compete with you unnecessarily especially the first years and stay out of gossips!
From Associates – Work, it works!
