One month 03 June- 03 July 2019
How you applied?
I interned after completing my third year in college. Applied at the email id of Mr. Sanjay K Chadha- sanjaykchadha[at]bsklegal.org and got a reply very quickly – the next day itself- as Mr. Chadha replies from his phone.
First day formalities, infrastructure, first impression
It was very good as it is a very nice and decent office and there was what I believed to be a conference room where all the interns used to sit together.
We were asked to give our recommendation letter which is required and it is a practice to provide one. After that, we were asked to sit in that room.
Main tasks
Honestly, all we did in the initial days was just reading files on insurance matters and later on research on various topics with case laws We were then sent for around 2 weeks to courts to observe proceedings which I believe is the only interesting part.
The work which we were assigned were both related to office as well as visiting district courts, Delhi High Court, National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission & other courts and attending the hearings, getting to know about the cases and their judgements and also, we got to learn drafting and filing of the cases and their motions.
Apart from that, we were asked about the basic things we had learnt after reading the files on those insurance matters for which we attend the court proceedings.
Some of the insights of the work that I was given were, for instance, Drafting of Reply made to the parties, Substitution application, Evidence, Written Argument etc. making the Hearing sheets for the upcoming dates and researching on various aspects like related to the recent amendments etc.
Good things
This internship proved to be very beneficial and gaining experience for me. The best thing is that it created a room for me to enhance my drafting skills and acquire knowledge of court proceedings.
Also, the staff of the office were so cooperative and helpful especially Amit Sir, Mahesh Sir and Radha Ma’am. They always encourage us to do some creative research and drafting.
Bad things
In my intern period here for 30 days, I haven’t come across anything that I could term as a drawback of interning at this place.
