How you applied?
I came to know about the firm through their website and I applied by sending an email to their HR Manager.
Office Timings
Monday to Friday: 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The weekends are off.
First day formalities, first impression, infrastructure
On the first day, I met the HR Manager and she made me sign an NDA and the office staff showed me to my desk and introduced me to other associates and partners.
The office looks really posh and great. There is a very active housekeeping department who takes care of the kitchen and any other needs you have. Associates and Partners are really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The firm runs in a very amicable and healthy environment.
Main tasks
- Research works on the corporate clients the firm represents.
- Due Diligence for the clients.
- Helping the associates draft a number of documents and agreements.
- Drafting documents like employee agreement, power of attorney, ROC forms filing table etc.
- Consolidating and crunching numerous lengthy documents.
Good things
The firm is extremely good at what they do and they have a lot of clients and thus ample opportunities. They only take 2 interns per month so there isn’t much competition among interns and the associates treat you as equal to them and respects and acknowledges your work.
They are really friendly and teach you a lot of things. The Company Secretaries at the firm make you help them for some of their corporate works and being a CS aspirant I got a great insight on their works and was more than thrilled to contribute whatever I can.
Some days I had to stay back to complete some works and along with me some associates also stays back.
The firm is more like a family and in the last week of my internship, I worked with their Senior Partner, Kavitha Vijay.
She was brilliant and made me draft a few documents which were an exhilarating experience for me as it was the first time I was drafting an official document completely by myself.
I would recommend this firm to all the law students in South India who are interested in a career in Corporate Law.
Bad things
Nothing at all. It’s a perfect firm to intern.
Stipend
It is purely performance based.
Accommodation to the office, commuting
The firm is located in Nungambakkam, which is one of the well-connected places in Chennai. You can avail Service apartments or PGs nearby and Ola, Uber etc are readily available if you are staying a bit far.
Anything else, lessons learnt
The firm fosters the idea of working in a family-centric environment. The pressure on you is minimal compared to other firms and everyone helps each other.
The housekeeping staffs are really caring, the infrastructure is amazing, their client base is exemplary and I didn’t find any negatives there.
Plus, being a Corporate Law aspirant, I learnt my basics and made me more driven towards the area of practice.
