Name, college, year
Prabhneer Swani, Symbiosis Law School (Pune), 4th year
Name of firm, address
Reddy & Reddy Law Firm, Pune located in Shivaji Nagar, Pune, Maharashtra.
Application procedure
Applicants should mail in their CVs along-with the cover-letter to hr@reddyandreddy.org. After shortlisting these resumé, the firm schedules a telephonic interview with the applicant on basis of which the internship is offered.
Duration of internship & timings
2nd to 30th April, 2018 (4 weeks) from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM from Monday to Saturday
First day formalities, infrastructure
I was introduced to the associates of the firm and the Founder Adv. Mr. Sudhir Reddy.
Main tasks
The day started with the intern having to prepare a news brief of the current events in the specified areas after which the work available was allotted. The concerned associates first explained to us how to go about research, drafting and/or submission of the assignment and they were always available to clarify any doubts whatsoever. We were expected to turn in the assignment by the end of the day or as required by the concerned associate.
I got to work on a number of matters which includes Insolvency & Bankruptcy, real-estate, family law, arbitration, cross-border disputes, alternative methods of dispute resolution, company law, contract law etc.
This ranged from research to find case-laws and authority for ongoing cases to drafting contracts and notices for clients.
Good things
The interns did not have a separate working space allotted to them and we were often required to sit with the associate that allotted us the work. Therefore, there were practically no barriers to communication between the intern and the associate(s)/ partner(s) and were always happy to clarify any doubts that we faced.
Adv. Sudhir Reddy, the managing partner and the founder of the firm, came across as a truly humble and warm person who made it a point to interact with the interns on a daily basis and made sure that we got the opportunity to work on matters concerning our areas of interest.
Bad things
Sometimes it takes time for the concerned associate to review or give feedback about your work.
Stipend
None
Accommodation, travel
Since I am a student in a local college, I didn’t have to arrange for accommodation and travelled by auto-rickshaw to and from the office. However, the areas around the office have a lot of colleges and are the hub for the students of Pune. Therefore, locating paying-guest accommodations wouldn’t be a problem.
Any other thing
I strongly recommend an internship at this firm to any law student seeking to pursue a career in alternative dispute resolution, commercial litigation, family litigation or even the corporate sector.
