First day
The office is situated in the beautiful Ballard Estate, which also has other major law firms like JSA and Bharucha & Partners. We were expected to report at 9:00 AM and were briefed about the dos and donts of the office.
Experience
HSA Advocates is one of the most professional law firms I have interned at with some of the friendliest people I have come across.
I was majorly given corporate due diligence work. The junior associates took interest in teaching us the work and guiding us as to how the work was expected to be done instead of just piling up files. The teams were flexible as well.
So if I was given corporate law related work, I used to go and ask for work from the Partner who looked at Arbitration matters, as I wanted to work in that field as well (if I was free and with permission, of course). The interns were made to sit in a designated area, but my associate wanted me to sit with the team as there was an empty cubicle, which helped me with interacting more people.
Our office timings were 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. We were asked to stay back according to the work load.
They have a beautiful office space which has a 180 degree view of South Mumbai (it only gets better during the monsoon). A pretty good pantry and unlimited coffee only adds up to the experience. For a person who has an interest in corporate work, this firm can give you ample opportunities to learn a lot of aspects.
