First Day Formalities
All the interns were required to visit the CRY head-office, Delhi which is located at a walking distance from Saket Metro Station. The office was well-furnished and all the interns were gathered in a room where they interacted with each other and the mentor Sweta Bhattacharjee.
An orientation was held and she briefed the interns about nature of internship and the kind of work the interns were required to do. Most interns including me opted for field work.
Main Tasks
The main task was teaching students in various centers throughout the city. For the convenience of interns, they were given centers near to their homes. An area-wise mentor was also there to help and supervise us. We were required to conduct a 3 hr session where we had to teach kids divided into two batches on the basis of their age group.
We were required to teach kids in a creative way so that they remember what they learn. A group of around 5 interns were assigned one center and we were required to make a daily schedule and conduct activities accordingly. The activities were both academic and co-curricular in nature.
Once a self-defense workshop was also conducted for the kids which we were required to supervise.
At the end of internship we were required to submit a report based on what we had done in our one month internship. Through the internship we learned a lot and it was a wonderful and unique experience for me which I will remember throughout my life.
Duration of Internship
